Peter McCombie MW led the Friuli session, where attendees tasted 10 different Friuli wines – demonstrating the range the province has to offer. The Franciacorta session was about the traceability & regulation of Italian DOC wines, led by Riccardo Ricci Curbastro from Federdoc, where he declared that the UK market was ‘sophisticated’, with a high knowledge of wine. Attendees of this masterclass were also treated to some cured Italian meats and cheese to accompany their vintage Franciacortas, from Istituto Valorizzazione Salumi Italiani. The wines served were: Franciacorta Ricci Curbastro Extra Brut 2010; Franciacorta Ricci Curbastro Dosaggio Sero “Gualberto” 2007; Franciacorta Ricci Curbastro Saten Brut 2005 Museum Release.
